Custom Power Cord Guide
Custom project supply
Build a clear custom power cord specification
Use this guide when a standard stock cord does not match your connection, cable, length, colour, approval or project requirement. A complete specification helps us check feasibility, price, MOQ, delivery time and the most suitable shipping method.
Important A custom cord is one complete approved product. A change to the plug, connector, cable, conductor size, length or colour can affect the rating, approval, MOQ, price or production time.
Choose the right request
You may not need a fully new product. Start with the option that best describes your requirement.
Send the MK product code and quantity, or order the available stock through the online shop. Custom-production MOQ does not apply to available stock.
Send the closest MK product code and state the required change, such as length, colour or cable type.
Use the six-point checklist below. Photos, equipment models and existing drawings are also helpful.
Define the complete power path
Both ends must match the equipment, and every part must support the required electrical and environmental conditions.
Direction matters: name the cord from the power-source end to the equipment end. Example: IEC C14 plug to IEC C13 connector.
Six points to include
Send the information you already know. We can help identify missing points, but the final specification must be confirmed before production.
Market and application
State the destination country and how the cord will be used: data centre, office, appliance, medical device, industrial equipment or another application.
See the International Plug GuidePower-source connection
Identify the wall socket or PDU outlet and the required plug. Examples include country plugs, NEMA plugs, IEC C14 and IEC C20.
See the IEC Connector GuideEquipment connection
Identify the equipment inlet and required connector, such as IEC C13, C15, C19 or C21. Include the equipment model when possible.
Check locking optionsElectrical and environmental rating
State the required current, voltage, frequency, temperature and indoor or outdoor conditions. Also mention repeated movement, oil, moisture or low-smoke requirements.
See Cable Types & RatingsCable and physical options
Define the cable type, conductor size or AWG, length, colour and any special marking, label, packaging or connector orientation.
Compare cable constructionsApproval and project data
Include required approvals, total quantity, expected repeat volume, requested delivery date, delivery country, preferred shipping method and sample or drawing requirements.
See Certificates & DrawingsCommon custom options
These options can be checked for a custom project. Availability depends on the complete construction, approval scope, production quantity and component supply.
| Part of the cord | Possible requirement | What must be confirmed |
|---|---|---|
| Connection | Country plug, NEMA, IEC plug, IEC connector, locking connector or other approved interface | Mating outlet and inlet, current, voltage, temperature and approval |
| Cable | H05VV-F, H05V2V2-F, H05RR-F, LSZH, SJT/SJTW or another available construction | Conductor size, number of cores, temperature, environment and market standard |
| Physical design | Special length, colour, plug angle, connector orientation or strain-relief design | Available tooling, dimensions, tolerance and approval scope |
| Identification | Customer label, barcode, part number, cable marking or individual packaging | Label data, format, placement, language and packaging quantity |
| Project supply | One production batch, scheduled deliveries, repeat supply, sea freight, air freight or courier delivery | MOQ, forecast, call-off quantity, required delivery date, destination, shipping method and commercial terms |
From enquiry to delivery
A clear process reduces specification changes and helps prevent approval or compatibility problems.
Production starts only after the commercial terms and final technical specification are agreed. Do not use an unapproved sample or preliminary drawing as the final production specification.
